i've checked out quite a few old structures on the humber. old fence lines, some old buildings ruins, even old wells (springs/wet areas are quite a challange when building trail). even thought about how "wigwam's" where built
cedar wood is the material of choice hands down. it is an easy wood to cut and shape with an axe or tool. as well as being decay resistant, thus easy to scavenge from deadfall.
the bark can be even woven or used as a roofing material. it's a natural choice trail features built with hand tools. though it takes a bit of re-learned skill how to scavenge, split, cut, shape and peel...
